Robber Sentenced To 20 Years Imprisonment With Hard Labour

The Upper West RRegional Police has secured a conviction against Adams Hamidu, also known as “Gyida”, a 19 year old notorious robber. On Thursday, June 5, 2025, the Wa Circuit Court sentenced Gyida to 20 years’ imprisonment with hard labor for robbery. According to reports, Gyida and another masked individual, on February 2025, robbed a victim of a blue Honda motorbike valued at GHC 20,000.00, a Tecno mobile phone worth GHC 1,300.00, and cash amounting to GHC 10,800.00.
Through intelligence-led operations, Gyida was arrested on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at his hideout at Domowa, in the Wa West District of Upper West. According to the Upper West Regional Police Command, the conviction of Gyida underscores the Command’s commitment to protecting the community and upholding the law. The Command reassured the public of its continued dedication to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
