NDC Chairman Shaddad Jallo Passes Away

Ashaiman Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Shaddad Umar Jallo, has died. He passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, June 14, 2025, in East Legon after reportedly complaining of feeling unwell. While the official cause of death is yet to be confirmed, family sources suspect complications related to high blood pressure.

Jallo was serving his second term as constituency chairman and was a member of the NDC’s National Zongo Caucus Coordinating Team. He played a pivotal role in the party’s 2024 election campaign and was widely credited with reducing the New Patriotic Party’s vote share in Ashaiman. Beyond his constituency, he worked closely with the Zongo Caucus to expand support for the NDC in Muslim communities across the country.

A family member, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Jallo was disheartened in his final days over the lack of political appointments for individuals from Ashaiman under the current Mahama administration something he had strongly advocated for. He will be buried on Sunday, June 15, at 9am in accordance with Islamic rites. Jallo is survived by his wife and eight children.
