Takoradi: Barber Found Dead In His Shop

A 43 year old barber, James Opoku, popularly known as Nana Yaw, was found dead inside his barbershop at Time Enterprise in New Site, within the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality, on Sunday, June 8. His wife, Christina Mensah, raised concerns after repeated calls to her husband went unanswered. She eventually asked their son, Shadrach, to check on him and collect his daily pocket money.

Speaking to Connect FM’s Abraham Mensah, Shadrach recounted that the shop’s entrance was locked from the inside. After knocking multiple times and calling out to his father with no response, he managed to enter the containerized barbershop, only to discover his father’s lifeless body lying near the entrance.

There were signs of a struggle, Shadrach said.

He appeared to have crawled several yards from his mattress toward the door. Christina Mensah confirmed her son’s account. The body has since been taken to a local mortuary. An autopsy will be conducted as the Ghana Police Service continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
