Gbiniyiri Clashes: NADMO Donates Relief Items To Displaced People At Sawla

National Disaster Management Organisation has donated relief items to displaced people taking refuge at the Sawla District Police Headquarters following recent clashes in Gbiniyiri and nearby communities. Items such as cups, blankets, buckets, tents and plates were handed over to support the affected families. Savannah Regional Director of NADMO, Mahama Zakaria, who received the supplies, said the items would provide immediate relief and improve conditions for the displaced.

He noted that the facility is ready to accommodate more people if necessary, with over 200 individuals already sheltering at the camp. The violent clashes, which erupted between Gonjas and Brifos over a disputed land transaction allegedly involving the Chief of Gbiniyiri, have left several properties destroyed and forced many residents to abandon their homes. Meanwhile, the Ghana Red Cross Society has mounted a temporary tent at the Sawla District Police Headquarters to shelter displaced women and children. Health officials have also been deployed to provide urgent medical attention to those in need.
