Energy Minister Hosts WAPCo Delegation To Discuss Sector Collaboration

Minister of Energy, John Abdulai Jinapor, has hosted a delegation from the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo), led by its newly appointed Managing Director, Mr. Abiodun Bodunrin, who has replaced Ms. Michelle Burket. The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest, particularly WAPCo’s pivotal role in Ghana’s energy sector and opportunities for strengthening future collaborations. Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Jinapor said, the operations of WAPCo remain central to Ghana’s energy security.
As a government, we are committed to deepening collaboration with partners like WAPCo to ensure access, efficiency, and affordability in our energy supply chain. He further emphasized the government’s vision of sustainable and reliable energy, noting, We will continue to build the right frameworks and infrastructure to support not only Ghana’s energy needs but also regional integration through the West African gas network. On his part, new WAPCo’s Managing Director, Mr. Abiodun Bodunrin, pledged the company’s unwavering support for Ghana’s energy sector.
WAPCo is proud of its contribution to Ghana’s energy landscape, and under my leadership, we will work even more closely with stakeholders to expand infrastructure, ensure reliable gas supply, and strengthen long-term sustainability, he said. The visit marked an important step in consolidating the relationship between Ghana and WAPCo, with both parties expressing optimism about future cooperation to drive progress in the country’s energy landscape.
