Dr. Adutwum Picks Nomination Forms For NPP Flagbearer Race

Dr. Yaw Adutwum, the former minister of education, has picked nomination forms officially to contest the upcoming New Patriotic Party presidential primaries slated for January 2026. Dr Adutwum, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region, is among three aspirants who have picked forms to enter the race for the NPP’s presidential candidacy. The Minister, who served under the Akufo-Addo–Bawumia administration, is seeking to lead the party into the 2028 general election.
His bid adds to the growing list of contenders seeking to secure the sole ticket to represent the party in the 2028 polls. The Bosomtwe lawmaker is widely recognised for championing education reforms, particularly in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) development, and for expanding secondary education. His entry into the flagbearer race has raised eyebrows within the NPP as he will be contesting former Vice-President and the party’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. The true popularity of all the aspirants will be tested when voting takes place in January 2026.
