Nineteen suspected drug peddlers and criminals have been arrested during different swoops by the police in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region. The police embarked on the unannounced security operations on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, to help flush out illegal drug peddlers and criminals from the city. The security

 

agents, during the important exercise, also seized quantities of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp or ‘Wee’, which were in possession of the suspects. Those arrested were Bello Omaro, 29; Ali Manu 25; Joel Asiedu, 19; Amadu Amadu, 35; Obed Boateng, 23; Kingsley Antwi, 28; and Kwadwo Amoako, 25. The

 

 

others included Bashiru Mohammed, 22; Osman Yakubu, 23; Appiah Kingdom, 23; Akwasi Boateng, 58; Michael Owusu, 47; Abdul Razak Sulemana, 20; and Yaw Agyei, 25. The rest are Paul Kaba, 29; Owusu King Bruce, 20; Samuel Ayagah, 19; Nana Poku, 30; and Patasia Grushie, 25. A police report  indicated the

 

 

swoop took place at “Mayanka, Krofrom, Suame cemetery, Suame Commercial Bank area, Kwadaso and Tanoso, all within the Kumasi metropolis. “A search conducted in their various narcotic bases led to the retrieval of cement and newspaper wraps of dried leaves, compressed and cut pieces of dried leaves, pill

 

 

pouches containing dried leaves and quantities of dried leaves, all suspected to be narcotic drugs,” the police report said. The police document also said all the nineteen suspects were in custody and were being processed while those connected with the exhibits would be prosecuted.
