30 Persons Charged For Vandalizing Neoplan Police Station, Stealing 2 AK47 Rifles
Thirty young men have been arraigned and charged for allegedly invading the Neoplan Police Station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle and then in the process vandalizing the charge and the charge officer’s office. They are said to have stolen two AK47 rifles belonging to the Police. The 30, were on Wednesday, October 12, charged with four
counts including two counts of conspiracy, unlawful damage, and stealing. They are Musah Naaba, 22, a trader, Yusif Adombela, 24, a driver’s mate, Kasim Mohazu, 29, trader, Bismark Osei, 29, driver, Gilbert Asamoah, 20, trader, Ismael Nuhu, 28, trader, Nasarah Isaac, 21, trader, Forever Adomosey, 28, driver’s mate,
Kwaku Kyei, 23, driver’s mate and Lambert Akurabilla, 19, head potter. The rest are Maxwell Ayugi, 29, head potter, Faisal Gaddafi, 29, trader, Kofi Deri,19, unemployed, Agbanyoro Nana Yaw, 29, driver’s mate, Kofi Samsam 36, trader, Tawiah Maxwell,51, driver, Samuel Mba, 18, trader, Kwaku Boateng, 23, driver’s mate, Henry Collins, 26,
mobile phone repairer and Thomas Adorgle, 18, trader. Others are Mustapha Kofi, 29, trader, Gabriel Danso Alias Alebee, 20, trader, Prince Anim, 31, trader, Awene Adoko, 23, trader, Awene Oluashegu, 38, mason, Fuseini Adams, commercial motor rider, Conrad Kunli, 26, commercial motorider, Mubarak Haruna, 30, butcher, Mohammed
Ayamga, 26, trader and Daniel Ofori, 34, driver. They all pleaded not guilty to all charges before the Circuit Court in Accra presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Afia Owusua Appiah and have also been remanded by the court to reappear on October 26. Chief Inspector, Samuel Ahiabo, the Prosecutor had prayed the court to also remand the
accused persons on grounds that investigations are still ongoing to know the culprits. The accused persons appeared in court without counsel. Per the brief facts of the case as presented to the court by the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Samuel Ahiabo, were that all the accused persons have their respective occupations at Kwame
Nkrumah Circle. He said, on October 9, 2022, at about 7:50pm, one Isobar stole a mobile phone belonging to a young man and that when he was being chased, he jumped into the Odaw River to escape. The Prosecutor said, the young man, (victim), also jumped into the river to retrieve his mobile phone from the said Isobah but in
the ensuing struggle over the mobile, Isobah got drawn. Chief Inspector Ahiabo said, a friend of Isobah also jumped into the river, and he also got drowned. The Prosecutor told the court that, on the same day, the accused persons organized themselves, marched to the Neoplan Police station, and attacked and vandalized the
charge office and station officer’s office. He told the court that, after they vandalized the police station, the accused person stole two AK47 rifles kept at the charge office, and on the October 10, 2022, the police gathered intelligence, arrested the accused persons, and retrieved the rifles. He said investigations are still underway.
