4 Dead, 5 Suspects Arrested Over Bawku Killings

Five persons have been picked by the Bawku Municipal Police Command in connection with the killing of some four persons in Bawku in the Upper East Region. This follows sporadic shootings on the Monday, May 9, 2022, reportedly claiming four lives, three males and a female. Bawku Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent
Simon Peter Akabati who also confirmed the arrest on the Wednesday May 11, 2022 said we want government intervention to buy the arms. That could also solve the situation, or if you bring your arm, we will employ you. That is more comforting than just giving them the money. We are also still investigating because we don’t understand why these things happening. We suspect it
could be a reprisal attack and four people killed; three males and one female. Five people have been arrested and we are arraigning them before court this morning. He has therefore called on government to intervene and buy back illegal guns in the possessions of civilians in Bawku and its environs. The Commander believes that the government intervention is the surest way in solving the incessant killing of innocent people with guns in the area.
