A/R: Armed Robbers Kill Policeman Escorting Bullion Van; Steal Cash And AK 47 Rifle

 

 

About GHS 500,000 has been taken away by armed robbers who attacked a GCB Bank Bullion Van and killed one policeman between Obuasi and Asokwa Junction at the outskirts of Adansi Nyankumaso Community in the Ashanti Region. Police reveal that the white bullion Van with registration Number GT 543-19 from the GCB

 

Bank in Dunkwa was heading to New Edubiase  but fired indiscriminately from the rear and facing the van by the about 10 armed robbers. Lance Corporal Babah Martin of Dunkwa Police on board the said vehicle on escort  duties was shot by the robbers on the left leading to his death at the spot. The van was driven by 36 year old

 

 

Eric Amoah with one Emmanuel Boateng also an escort both personnel of the Delta Security Services however escaped with some minor injuries and are  currently receiving treatment at the Anglogold Ashanti Hospital, Obuasi. According to the police, the driver after the tyres of the vehicle had been deflated, handed over keys

 

 

to the robbers to have access to the money in the van upon demand. But after killing the said police escort, they took away his AK 47 S/rifle No.6411/11 with 20 rounds. The body of Lance Corporal Baba Martin has been deposited at the Anglogold Ashanti Hospital in  Obuasi awaiting to be convey to Police hospital, Accra for preservation and autopsy.
