The Minister for Energy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has expressed satisfaction at the progress of work at the ongoing Kasoa Bulk Supply Point Project. The aim of the 436 megawatt Kasoa BSP is to bring an end to the intermittent power outages and also low voltage experienced by by residents of Kasoa, Nyanyano, Senya
Beraku and adjoining communities. The project, which is now about 60 percent complete, will have its capacity also boosted to supply electricity for over three hundred thousand consumers when done. The project, which began in 2019, is expected to be completed in August 2021. After touring the construction site, the Energy
Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh appealed to the residents to be patient with the government as it works to also ensure regular power supply for all. We will just continue to ask for patience and forbearance for the people working here, he said. To the media, he said We ask for the corporation, understanding, education, and
information through your various portals to educate Ghanaians. Dr. Prempeh further assured that monies and the financial resources are being provided to ensure that we tackle our [power] problems. The Kasoa BSP is also a 435 MWA capacity Gas Insulated Switchgear GIS substation, the second largest of its kind in the the country. It is being constructed to address low voltage
and also frequent power outage challenges caused by increasing domestic and industrial demand in Kasoa and its environs, including Senya Bereku, Bawjiase and the Nyanyano. When completed, the US$50 million BSP project, which is being funded by MiDA under the Ghana Power Compact programme is expected to benefit 241, 508 ECG customers by vastly improving the GRIDCo’s power transmission systems.
