Chiefs Of Sikaman To Cleanse Land Following Military Helicopter Crash

Traditional leaders in the Sikaman community, located within the Akrofrom stool lands in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, have announced plans to perform purification rites in the wake of the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6. The fatal incident claimed the lives of eight individuals, including two senior government officials: Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
Also among the deceased were Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong. The crash also took the lives of three personnel of the Ghana Air Forces who were the crew members aboard: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
According to local opinion leaders, the traditional purification rites are intended to cleanse the land and restore spiritual harmony following the tragic event. The Ghana Armed Forces Z-9 helicopter, which was en route to Obuasi, went off radar and was later discovered crashed in a forested area within the Sikaman community. The tragedy has plunged the nation into mourning, with many describing it as one of the darkest days in the country’s history.
