Citizen ID Numbers For Nigerians In Ghana
Nigerians in Ghana are being offered an opportunity to acquire unique citizenship numbers called Nigerian Identification Numbers or NIN. It is the country’s equivalent of the Ghana Card, but through a special arrangement, Nigerian citizens resident in Ghana can acquire the NIN without travelling to their home country. Introducing
the arrangement to some Nigerian citizens last week at Dzorwulu in Accra, an official told them the importance of the digitisation project without which they would not be able to access various services such as banking, drivers’ licences and a host of others. Present at the function which took place at the SID Theatre on Tuesday
were Dr. Ojifinni Abiodun, Dr. Adeyemi Odebunmi, Dr. Bayor Albert Asaolu, Mr. Sulley Zaki Umar and Chief Akintola Bolanle. Speaking during the programme, Dr. Abiodun said the NIN project is being undertaken by the National Identity Management Commission (NIN). According to him, “as you are aware our home government
in its pursuit of complete digitisation of our economy, has commenced capturing the data of all citizens for the national database for the issuance of the unique National Identity Number (NIN) for all applicants. In pursuance of this, he went on, “OAR College of Health and Technology Ltd in partnership with Salsabel Star Ltd, Ghana
has brought this service close to our citizens of all ages resident in Ghana. The registration, he explained, will be done in both regular and premium services “in our centres and in the comfort of people’s homes, offices, worship and recreational centres on request. NIN slips will be dispatched to applicants upon approval.
