Fire Guts Timber Market In Accra
A raging fire has swept through the timber market at the Ama momo Timber Market in the Accra. A twelve room storey building together with 10 shops were razed down by the fire. According to the residents in the area, the fire started at about 9am and the Fire Service arrived on the scene an hour later. It is not immediately known the
cause of the fire but all the traders were seen helplessly looking at the blaze as their structures were also being destroyed and some affected residents have all blamed the Electricity Company of Ghana for the fire outbreak. Other markets across the country too have experienced fires like areas like Mankessim, Kumasi, and Sunyani. In
some instances, the Fire Service has attributed the fires to illegal electrical wiring. The service has also warned all the traders against turning their business spaces into homes at the night. They believe such actions possibly contribute to fire outbreaks also in the country.
