Government Moves To Evacuate Stranded Ghanaians In Sudan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced plans to evacuate Ghanaians who are caught up in Sudan’s disturbance. Sudan has been engulfed in a deadly confrontation between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces during the last week, resulting in losses.The conflict has affected a number of Ghanaian nationals notably students although Ghana’s Honorary Consulate in Khartoum reports that all of its nationals are safe.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration said the Ghana Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, which has concurrent accreditation to Sudan, is working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and the Honorary Consulate in coordinating the evacuation of Ghanaian nationals to secure their safety. “The government wishes to assure the general public, in particular, the families and acquaintances of Ghanaians in Sudan that every effort is being made to ensure the safety of their loved ones until their arrival in Ghana,” part of the statement read.
