Government To Construct Bridge Over Oti River

 

 

President Nana Akufo Addo has given an assurance that his government is committed to constructing a bridge over River Oti at Dambai in the newly created Oti region. The President who was addressing chiefs and people of Kete Krachi at a durbar on Thursday 22nd October 2020 as part of 2 day working visit to the region, indicated that plans are on course towards the

 

execution of the project. The assurance by President Nana Akufo Addo, was in response to an appeal made by the first President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs and Krachiwura, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, in his welcome address to the President. According to Nana Besemuna, the construction of the bridge would enhance trade; facilitate the movement of goods and

 

 

services to and from communities around the river, including Dambai, Kete Krachi, Chinderi and Borae. In response, President Nana Akufo Addo said it was during his tenure that the creation of the Oti region materialized, thus, urged the people to support him and the New Patriotic Party by voting to retain him come December 7 so that his government can continue to

 

 

deliver the needed development for the area. He said, “We must understand that any programme or initiative that will bring improvement and development to Krachi, is what I am after, so you must vote for the NPP to complete all the development plans for the region.” President Akufo Addo further assured the chiefs that other requests, including the building of a water

 

 

treatment plant at Kete Krachi, the upgrading of the Kete Krachi prisons into a regional prison, the building of technical university amongst others would be considered by his government. As part of the 2 day tour of the region, the President inspected ongoing 15 kilometer Nkonya Kwamikrom road project, cut sod for the construction of a national youth resources center at Dambai, cut sod for the building of a Zoomlion recycling composite plant at Yariga No.1, commissioned another 64-kilometer Kete Krachi to Dodiokope road.
