Helicopter Crash: President Mahama, Veep Lead Condolence Visit To Families Of Fallen Service Members


In a solemn show of national unity and compassion, President John Mahama, accompanied by Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and other senior government officials, visited the office of the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General William Agyapong, to extend heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen military personnel. Four of the eight victims of the Helicopter Crash that happened on the 6th of August, 2025 at Adansi Akrofuom. The delegation met with the bereaved families of Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, and Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, who tragically lost their lives in service to the nation.




On behalf of the people of Ghana, President Mahama and his team offered words of comfort and pledged the government’s unwavering support during this period of grief. A book of condolences was signed in honour of the fallen heroes, as a mark of respect for their sacrifice and dedication. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to recognizing the bravery and selflessness of the country’s military personnel.


A state funeral is scheduled to take place on Friday, 15th August, 2025 at the Black Star Square, where the nation will come together to pay a final tribute to the departed. The event is expected to draw high-ranking officials, members of the security services, and the general public, as Ghana bids a dignified and fitting farewell to its gallant sons.
