I'm Not Complaining That Election Was Rigged - Appiah-Kubi
Andy Appiah-Kubi, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, has graciously accepted his defeat in the 2024 parliamentary elections. Appiah-Kubi stated in an interview that he doesn’t believe the elections were rigged and is satisfied with the legitimacy of the results. Appiah-Kubi emphasised that he’s not contesting the figures or alleging any wrongdoing. Instead, he’s chosen to respect the will of the electorate, acknowledging that he lost the election to another candidate.
This display of sportsmanship is a testament to his commitment to democracy and the rule of law. Moreover, Appiah-Kubi has announced that he won’t be seeking re-election as a Member of Parliament in the future. He expressed no regrets about his decision to contest or the outcome of the election, demonstrating a sense of closure and contentment. In a separate development, Appiah-Kubi denied allegations that the winning MP candidate in his constituency had provided him with financial support for his campaign.
He vehemently rejected this claim, stating that he’s a respected lawyer with a good standing and not someone who can be bought. “I am not complaining of figures, I am not the one to do calculations, I am not complaining about rigging or anything. These are the figures we have I want to believe these are the expression of the electorates. I lost the election to another candidate and that as far as I know, and that what I believe and that what I have accepted.”
