Kikpandewura Suspended Over Alleged Involvement In The Murder Of Mujipewura Abdul Rahman Bore
The Paramount Chief of Kikpande in Kpembe Traditional Area in the East Gonja Municipality of Savannah Region, Kanyiti I, has been suspended indefinitely from holding himself as chief of Kikpande. The decision was taken in an emergency meeting on April 4 at the Jakpa’s Palace in Damongo by some eighteen paramount chiefs and sub-chiefs. The Mujipewura, Abdul-Rahman Bore, was attacked and killed at his palace on March 30, by unknown assailants - an incident which many suspect the suspended Kikpandewura has a hand in.
The suspension letter was titled, “Indefinite suspension of Kanyiti (I) ” does not bear the King of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bii-Tunuto Jawu Soale’s (I) signature, but rather, two other chiefs who also sat in the meeting. According to the suspension letter, the Kikpandewura as part of his suspension is prohibited from performing any functions that relate to the customs and traditions of the Gonja kingdom.
