Lifting of lockdown does not mean we’re out of Covid-19 pandemic – Akufo Addo
President Akufo Addo has strongly stressed that the lifting of the ban on movement in Accra and Kumasi does not mean Ghana is out of the Coronavirus(COVID-19) pandemic.
According to him, government through health experts will continue to monitor closely events in some hotspots in the Greater Accra Metropolitan areas like Weija Gbawe, Ga East and Ayawaso East Municipalities, Tema Metropolis and the Eastern Region like Asuogyaman, Lower Manya Krobo districts.
In his 7th address to the nation following the outbreak of the COVID-19 on Sunday night, President Akufo Addo said that whenever the situation so warrants, a community in which the virus is identified as becoming prevalent will be lockdown until there’s a clear understanding of the trajectory of the virus that will allow for its containment.
“We must obey the measures being put in place including the new ones because we know our survival depends on them and the harder we are on ourselves in obeying them the quicker and more enduring will be the victory,” the President added.
Meanwhile, President Akufo Addo has announced that the COVID-19 cases in Ghana have jumped to 1,042.
