Nungua Shining Beach Road Will Be Fixed Within 10 days - Krowor MCE
The Municipal Chief Executive for the Krowor Municipal Assembly, Joshua Nii Bortey has promised that the Nungua Shining Beach road will be fixed within the next 10 days. He gave the assurance following a protest by some residents on Tuesday, September 22. Speaking to
the media, Mr. Bortey said a contract was awarded for the rehabilitation of the road two months ago and the contractor moved to the site a day before the protest and work has started. “We have started working on that road. We awarded the contract about two months ago.
When I heard about the protest last week I came there and told them we will fix the road. The machine went to the site last night and this morning we’ve started work on the road… I wasn’t forced to go to the site because of the demonstration,” the MCE said. The Youth of Nungua
Shining Beach Road within Krowor Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have been protesting against poor state of roads within the community. According to them, successive governments have failed to ensure that the road is asphalted. They said efforts to impress
on authorities to act on their pleas have failed. But according to Joshua Nii Bortey, the contractor has started work on another part of the stretch and will soon begin actual work on the section that the youth complained about. “He the contractor started from another point. The demonstration did not force the
contractor to return to the site. It is just about 2 weeks, he is not fixing that road alone. He is coming to the Nungua Central market, there is some work he as to do there. They are in phases, and we added all to this one. It is going to take us about one week or 10 days to fix this place.”
