Palm Wine Tapper Commits Suicide
A 45 year old palm wine tapper has shockingly ended his life through hanging at Fiankoma, in the Amansie Central District, in the Ashanti Region. The deceased, identified as Hayford Akwasi Affum, reportedly left home around 8;45am on the May 14, 2022 but he did not return home again, sparking fear and panic.Affum, a married man and
a Father of four, was later seen hanging on a Tree in a bush, which is very close to his house, the Police have also confirmed. The deceased did not leave behind any suicide note to show what influenced him to take away his life in that weird manner. The body of the late palm wine tapper has since been deposited at the Jacobu St.
Peter’s Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy, as the Police investigates his death. On the 14/05/2022 at about 8;50am, Kwabena Dapaah, the Assemblyman of Fiankoma Electoral Area, called at the station, a Police report has disclosed. On receipt of the complaint, the station officer in charge of day patrol team proceeded to the scene where the deceased was found hanged on a Cocoa tree with a sponge. St. Peter’s Hospital for autopsy, the police report seen by the paper, indicated.The report said spot investigation revealed that the deceased was a palm wine tapper, and living with his wife and four children at Fiankoma new site near the SDA church.
