Some Traders To Be Relocated To Adjen Kotoku - Regional Minister

 

 

Some traders in the central business district of Accra will soon be relocated by the AMA to another site at the Adjen Kotoku, a community which is within the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region and the city authorities say tomato, onion, and all yam traders in the capital will be moved to the place to help decongest the

 

metropolis. The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey who made the announcement said, It is part of decongesting the Accra. We are not saying we want to make life unbearable for the people. Moving them will rather boost their business. I doubt even that when you go to the place where yams are sold, they have a yard

 

 

like this to keep their yams. This is a better and more modern approach to do business because it is more or less like the middle of the Accra. The decongestion exercise is also part of the Minister’s Let’s make Accra campaign to improve conditions in the national capital. So far, Henry Quartey has met administrative officers in

 

 

the Region in addition to some other initiative to realize the agenda. Mr Quartey has also intimated that under his leadership, the Regional Coordinating Council would strive to provide lasting solutions to the developmental challenges in the region and also to ensure its swift transformation into a national capital of repute. The

 

 

Minister has also promised that he would put an end to trading along major streets in the Accra as the activity occasioned a lot of filth. He cited the Graphic Road as an example and has thus given a two-week ultimatum to such traders to vacate the area and these initiatives have won him the admiration of many Ghanaians.
