16 Persons Dead, Others Injured In Accident At Gomoa Okyereko

 

 

A Youtong bus with registration number GT 5866-L and a Fuel Tanker with registration number WR 2063 -10 have collided head-on resulting in the death of over fifteen people at the Gomoa Okyereko. The rescue team from the Ghana National Fire Service is at the scene trying to rescue the mate of the tanker trapped in the vehicle.

 

 

 

 

Reports indicate that the bus was traveling from Abidjan to Buduburam while the tanker was filled with petrol, traveling from Accra heading towards Takoradi. The Ghana Ambulance Service and the Police Service are also on-site, providing support and assistance alongside the GNFS.

 

 

 

 

It is believed that, the driver of the Yutong bus was sleeping and upon reaching Gomoa Okyereko he veered from his lane into the opposite lane resulting in the collision with the Fuel tanker. The body of all Sixteen deceased persons have been deposited at the Winneba Specialist and Trauma Hospital Mortuary while the injured are receiving treatment at the same facility.
