Akufo-Addo must invite Mahama to commission ‘Tema Interchange’ - NDC
The Greater Accra Regional Branch of the opposition NDC has called on President Akufo-Addo to invite opposition leader John Mahama to commission the Tema Interchange which they argue is a “Mahama legacy”.
According to them, the Tema project is one of four interchanges the former President Mahama rolled out as President hence the need to have him at the commissioning. The NDC and the NPP have been engaged in a nasty fight over credit for projects.
The NDC has accused the NPP under Akufo-Addo of “stealing” Mahama projects. “We are reliably informed that President Akufo-Addo will commission the Tema Motorway Expansion Project tomorrow, June 5.
This event counts in the series of projects among many other projects initiated by President John Mahama before the December 7, 2016 Elections. The project is thus one of President John Mahama’s popular legacies before leaving office in January 2017.
To be exact, this project is amongst the four major Interchanges constructed by H.E. John Dramani Mahama before exiting power in January 2017,” a statement released by the party’s Greater Accra Regional Secretariat said.
A Deputy Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser of the party, Amos Blessing Amorse challenged president Akufo-Addo to invite the former President for the commissioning. The NDC is also claiming credit for Mahama for the Obetsebi Lamptey interchange which is coming up.
“On the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange, suffice to state without any fear of contradiction that, Musah Yahaya Jafaru reported in the August 5, 2016 edition of the Daily Graphic, that the Parliament of Ghana had approved a buyer credit facility and a
commercial credit facility agreement totalling $39.2 million for the implementation of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange project and related works. The agreements, the report noted, was between the Mahama government and the HSBC Bank Plc of the United Kingdom (UK).
