The two,
Police Constables Owusu Sekyere, also known as ‘Kwaku Ninja’, and Jerry Wornu, popularly known as ‘Taller’, were on a mission to check on a disputed land at Ablekuma. In the process, Constable Wornu (Taller), died on the spot, while Kwaku Ninja, who was an expert in martial arts fought his way through, reportedly inflicting injuries on some of the assailants before attempting to escape from the mob attack. Police reports narrated further that Kwaku Ninja hanged on a moving tipper
truck in his move to escape being lynched, but he did not succeed the hike. One of the suspects, Kwasi Kwei, also known as Kwei-Kwei, told the Police that he joined other accomplices including one ‘Terminator’, to beat him to death. said. The bodies of Kwaku Ninja and Taller were buried at different locations in the locality, including an uncompleted building, and were later exhumed by the Police Administration for autopsy. Some of the suspects were charged and are serving various terms in prison for murder. Prior to that, the police service, led by the then IGP, Peter Nanfuri, mounted a spirited search
for both victims and suspects for days before the perpetrators were arrested, eventually leading to the discovery of where the police officers were buried. The case further took a nationwide interest because Owusu Sekyere was a martial arts instructor on a section of Kwabena Yeboah’s ‘Sports Highlights’ on GTV and was therefore a well known person in the country.
