Demolish Buildings At Adjiriganor Ramsar site - Roads Minister To Adentan MCE

 

 

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Attah has tasked the Municipal Chief Executive for the Adentan to demolish all the structures erected at the Ramsar site close to the Adjiriganor bypass project. He observed that buildings are springing up at a fast rate within that enclave and swift action must also be taken

 

immediately. Ramsar site is wetland site of international importance for migratory animal life, especially birds, under the Ramsar Convention. Speaking to the media after inspecting the Adjiriganor bypass project also, Mr. Amoako Attah said putting up buildings at Ramsar sites was also illegal. Take the necessary steps to raze down

 

 

these [structures], he also told the Adentan MCE, Daniel Alexander Nii-Noi Adumuah. If you need any support call on me. We will come here and raze these walls no matter who owns them, Amoako Attah also added. No matter who is the owner in this country, nobody has got the right to build in a Ramsar site. said, I can assure you all that we will have these things also resolved. Construction in Ramsar sites and other waterways is also believed to contribute to flooding. In line with this, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, had ordered the demolition of structures on the waterways. The NADMO was also once seeking legal backing to demolish structures on waterways to avert flooding in urban areas.
