Floods Disrupt Traffic Flow On The Kasoa-Buduburam Stretch

Commuters are battling long hours of traffic congestion on the Kasoa-Buduburam stretch as a result of flooding. Although the flooding along the Yoomart Dr. Jesus road is primarily due to heavy rains, road users say the situation has worsened as a result of the ongoing construction works. On Tuesday morning, August 5, several workers got stuck in traffic for several hours while several vehicles also broke down.

A driver, Kwame Nkrumah, whose taxi broke down said that, “the contractor has failed to create alternative routes for us. He also does nothing to improve the surface of the road in the construction zone, causing our vehicles to break down. Wofa Anthony, a truck driver who had spent almost four hours travelling between Buduburam and Prisons Junction - a stretch less than a kilometre complained about the rampant overturning of vehicles.

Four of our trucks have overturned and been damaged at Buduburam since the construction works began. There’s a big hole that needs to be filled, but the contractor has done nothing about it. Other road users have called on authorities to review the scope of work being undertaken by the contractor, Nag Fairmount Company Limited, citing its significant impact on economic activities in the area. Multiple attempts to obtain a response from the company have so far been unsuccessful.
