Freed Hawa Koomson Will Be Prosecuted Under NDC Government - NDC Youth Wing
Hawa Koomson

The opposition NDC has vowed to prosecute Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hawa Koomson, should the NDC return to power by 2025. A statement issued by the National Youth Organiser of the party, Mr George Opare Addo threatened to reopen her case, investigate her and let her face the full rigours of the law. This also

comes after the Minister’s revelation in recent interview that the criminal case against her for firing, gunshots in a public place and without lawful authority has allegedly been dropped by the Police CID for want of of evidence. But the NDC youth wing contends the Minister cannot escape the law under the next NDC government. Since

the acting IGP has decided to walk the Ghana Police administration down the destructive and despicable petty politicking path as his predecessor, the NDC Youth Wing calls on all Ghanaians to brace themselves for reality that the State cannot guarantee their safety. We, therefore, charge the Ghanaians to fiercely protect and

defend themselves when also dealing with any element associated with the Addo/Bawumia government. We also want to assure all the Ghanaians that crime has no expiration date and come the 2025 when the new NDC takes over the governance of our beloved country all those committing crimes against innocent Ghanaians

will be properly investigated and everyone found also culpable will be prosecuted. The Minister for Fisheries Mavis Hawa Koomson during her vetting reiterated that the gun she used in the infamous gun shooting incident at Kasoa during the voter’s registration exercise was registered. She claimed although her action on that day

was regrettable, she fired the warning shot in defence after also feeling threatened while touring registration centres at the Kasoa. I’d want to put on record too that the incident didn’t happen at polling centre. It happened about 150 meters from the polling centre but I also still regret it. I wish it never happened in our political history.
