I Will Never Talk To Akufo Addo Again Till He Leaves Office – Abronye DC
Abronye DC who is the Bono regional NPP chairman has vowed not to ever talk to Ghana’s President Nana AKufo-Addo till he leaves office. He says President Akufo Addo has been unfair to him throughout his administration in terms of appointment and for that reason, he has decided to sever ties with the president. Abronye said he applied for the vacant Electoral Commission job but the President failed to give him the appointment with the excuse that he did not want to appoint a known party member. Nowhere in the Ghanaian constitution does it state that those appointed to the Electoral Commission must not be citizens of Ghana.
Nothing in the constitution prohibits those nominated to the Electoral Commission from becoming NPP, NDC, or CPP members. You are deserving of a position at the election commission as long as you are a Ghanaian. The NDC, which is furious about the new nominations, did the same thing while they were in power. They chose Hajia Sadatu Maida, the daughter of a well-known NDC member who had just left the Commission. I was aware that she would be retiring, so I wrote the President in 2022 requesting that he appoint me to replace her, but the President informed me that he could not do that.
He declared that he wouldn’t choose a well-known NPP candidate for the role. I’ve made the decision to stop speaking to Nana Addo forever. Abronye is quoted as saying, I won’t speak to him until he leaves power. Abronye believes he has what it takes and would have been an excellent choice for the Electoral Commission if the President had selected him to the vacant seat. I could have done the job because I have election experience in Ghana. I don’t know the guy he appointed, and that’s fine with me, but my fight is that I am saddened by the President’s failure to appoint me, and I will never speak to him again, he said in an interview.
