Interior Minister urges Bole residents to guard new 'freedom' zealously
The Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery has urged people of the Bole traditional area in the Bole district of Savannah Region to keep the peace they are living in else the curfew which was recently lifted will be reimposed.
The Minister was speaking as the Head of Government delegation at the final funeral rites of the late Member of Parliament for then Daboya/Damongo constituency, Alex Sofo Seidu.
According to him, the government lifted the previous curfew following a good counsel and recommendation by the Gonja King, Yagbonwura Sulemana Tutumba Bore-Essa I and the Savannah Regional Security would ensure that peace prevails.
“I want to remind you that if you keep the peace, I will leave it [lifting of the curfew] there, but if you breach the peace, we are back to curfew,” he cautioned.“But I believe that I can count on the support of all you,” he added.
The Savannah Region treasurer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC), Ali Kasim in an interview said the demise of the late MP has created a vacuum in the areas of leadership and philosophy and would be missed.
Still, on the good deeds of the late Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, the Savannah Region Minister, Adam Salifu Braimah recounted the role the late Alex Sofo Seidu played in the areas of road networks, education, business and general supports for humanity adding that the deceased would be missed with no immediate placement the ruling party, New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.
The late Alex Sofo Seidu until his demise was an Educationist, Politician, Philosophy, a businessman and traditional ruler.
He was 70 years and his survivors are his two wives and ten children. The late MP would be remembered for tarrying the Damongo Township and hospital roads, the boarder status for Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School and the establishment of Damongo Nurses training college among others.
