MCE Warns Occupants Of Government Bungalows To Keep Environs Clean Or Face Eviction



The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Samuel Adongo has issued a stern warning to government workers occupying government bungalows in the municipality who fail to maintain the facility in good shape or clean their frontages and immediate environment to face eviction, and the facility will be handed over to government officials and workers willing to maintain it and keep their environment clean. Mr. Adongo was speaking in an interview during the marking of the second edition of the Monthly National Sanitation Day Exercise in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.




The second edition of the Monthly National Sanitation Day Exercise in the Municipality was led by the New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Samuel Adongo, with support from security agencies in the municipality, the Ghana Prisons Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO officers, Zoomlion workers, NGOs, representatives from the Effiduase traditional council, and some community members. The exercise saw the sweeping of the streets, weeding of bushy areas, and cleaning and dredging of choked gutters from the Prisons junction at Effiduase through to the Asokore traffic light. 


Mr. Samuel Adongo, hinted that sanitation is something that every human must prioritize in human life since good sanitation in the homes and immediate environs brings up good health. Mr. Adongo also issued a stern warning to all residents who litter indiscriminately that from now onwards, anyone found culpable of dropping rubbish indiscriminately will be arrested and put before the law court. He reiterated that government workers occupying government bungalows who refuse to clean their environs will start facing evictions. The Twafohene of the Effiduase Nifa Division, Nana Ayimadu Kookootor, commended MCE for embarking on such an initiative to ensure cleanliness in New Juaben North Municipality and appealed to assembly to help place dustbins at vantage points to aid cleanliness.


He further emphasized that, moving forward, anyone found littering indiscriminately will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. The New Juaben North Municipal Environmental Officer, Mr. Kwaku Darko reiterated that the Assembly has done enough on awareness creation and education on cleanliness. As a result, they together with NADMO and Environmental Health officers in the municipality will form a taskforce for monitoring and anyone found violating the law in terms of environmental cleanliness will be put before the law court to serve as a deterrent to others.
