Police Arrest 23 Year Old Man With 66 Parcels Of Suspected Narcotics In Tarkwa

Daniel Yeboah, 23, has been arrested by police in the Western Region for transporting 66 compressed parcels suspected to be Indian hemp. The arrest took place on Thursday, 31 July 2025, at the Samreboi-Tanokrom snap checkpoint. Yeboah was travelling on a tricycle, commonly known as a “Pragya”, when officers stopped him for a routine check. Two travel bags containing the suspected narcotics were found in his possession. In his statement to the police, Yeboah claimed that a woman in Wenchi had given him the bags and instructed him to deliver them to her at Mumuni Camp, near Samreboi.
He said he was paid GH₵5,000 for the delivery. Police have launched a full investigation and are working to trace and arrest the woman mentioned by the suspect. The public is being urged to share any information that could assist in her apprehension or help advance the case.
Daniel Yeboah is currently in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, 4 August 2025. The Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and is encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity.
