Suspected killers of LASU student taken to court in unmarked vehicle
An Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Apomu, on Friday, remanded Owolabi Adeeko, his mum, Mrs Bola Adeeko and a prophet, Segun Philip, in the Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly killing a final year student of the Lagos State University, Favour Daley-Oladele. The three suspects arrived in court in an unmarked vehicle.
The three accused persons allegedly killed the lady on December 8 in Ikoyi-Ile Osun State for money ritual.
Appearing before Magistrate Olukunle Idowu-Faith, the accused persons’ plea to the two counts of conspiracy and murder could not be taken owing to the nature of the case.
Security sources had claimed the suspects might be arraigned before a magistrate in Osogbo instead of Apomu, which is the jurisdiction where the crime was committed.
Seecurity says that the idea of taking the suspects to Osogbo was due to a security report.
An Armoured Personnel Carrier, manned by policemen, was stationed at the entrance to the court about 30 minutes before the arrival of the suspects, while armed policemen positioned themselves in strategic places around the court.
About 12.25pm, a Toyota Hiace Bus with the inscription “Missionary” conveying the suspects accompanied by many armed policemen arrived on the court premises.
“The suspects were brought to court in this kind of vehicle because of the security report earlier gathered. No one would have thought they were inside the bus,” the source said.
Details of the two-count charge of conspiracy and murder pressed against the accused partly read, “That you Prophet Philip Segun, Owolabi Adeeko and Bola Adeeko and Wole Adeeko, who is still at large, on December 8, 2019 murdered Favour Oladele, a final year student of Lagos State University, by luring her from Mowe, to the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ikoyi-Ile, in the Isokan Local Government
Area of Osun State with the intent to kill her, dismember her body and use; her head, breast and heart for ritual, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 391 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.”
While Inspector Duro Adekunle announced appearance for the prosecution, the accused did not have legal representation in court.
Magistrate Idowu-Faith directed the prosecution to duplicate the case file and send to the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
He said the three accused persons should be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre and adjourned the matter till Wednesday, March 25, 2020 for mention.
